Health was very important in Ancient Rome as they believed that cleanness would lead to good health. Some Ancient Romans believed that the prevention for illness was much more important than the cure for an illness. Roman Philosophy was based along the lines of looking for another reason to find a prevention for the illnesses. Health also included the public baths and the toilets. Soon the Ancient Romans came up with the first-ever system of public health.
Public Baths- The public baths were very, very, very popular. Ancient Romans tried to visit the baths at least once everyday. The baths contained hot and cold pools, towels, slaves to wait on you, steam rooms, saunas, exercise rooms, hair cutting salons, library's and reading rooms. The baths were arranged like a shopping mall, with baths all lined up. There was as many as 90 public baths. Small baths held up to 300 people and big ones held up to 1500 people. Some Roman hospitals even had their own baths. A trip to the public baths was very important to the Ancient Romans. The Ancient Romans understood that dirty things would make people get ill.
